What the extension tracks
Tracking added automatically
No code in the theme: the extension adds the tracking tag itself – in Luma and Hyvä, with full page cache and Varnish, CSP whitelist included. Page views, clicks, heatmaps and replays work right away.
Cart with every quantity change
Add, change quantity (1 → 3 items counts as +2), remove, empty – reported by Magento itself, also for GraphQL and headless carts. Merging carts at login is not counted as removal.
Purchases, cancellations and credit memos
Every order with order number, net, tax, shipping, coupon, discount, payment and shipping method. Credit memos – partial ones too – and cancellations reduce revenue, once per order.
Product data as in the shop
SKU, name, manufacturer and category path – for reports by product, category and brand.
Cookie consent built in
Without consent VisualClicks measures cookieless. Magento’s Cookie Restriction Mode, Google Consent Mode v2 and IAB TCF v2 are respected – with consent, recognition and replays are added.
Fail-safe
Data is sent after the page has been delivered. If VisualClicks is ever unreachable, the shop keeps running unchanged.
See which cart value is left behind
Because every cart change arrives, VisualClicks shows the missed purchases: goods value, number of items and abandonment rate – by product, channel and device. So you see which products and sources lose revenue.
- Missed revenue and missed items per period
- Cart abandonment by channel – also for visitors from ChatGPT & co.
- Purchase funnel from product to payment
Set up in four steps
-
1
Install the extension
Unzip to app/code/VisualClicks/Analytics (or use Composer), then run bin/magento module:enable VisualClicks_Analytics && bin/magento setup:upgrade.
-
2
Create an API key
In VisualClicks under Settings → Website → API keys, create a key with the right “Send events”.
-
3
Enter the token
Paste it as API token under Stores → Configuration → Services → VisualClicks – per website or store view if needed.
-
4
Flush the cache
Done. The extension fetches the site ID itself; check everything with bin/magento visualclicks:check.
Frequently asked questions
Which Magento versions are supported?
Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce 2.4.7 to 2.4.9 as well as Mage-OS, each with PHP 8.2 to 8.4.
Does the extension cost anything?
The extension is free. You need a VisualClicks account; e-commerce reports are included from the Medium plan (as an add-on for Small) and in the 7-day trial.
Do I need a cookie banner for it?
No. Without consent VisualClicks measures cookieless, including cart and purchases. With consent via Cookie Restriction Mode, Google Consent Mode v2 or IAB TCF v2, returning visitors are recognised and sessions recorded.
Does it work with Hyvä and headless?
Yes. The tag runs in Luma and Hyvä. In headless setups Magento still reports cart (including via GraphQL) and purchases from the server; you add the tag for page views to your own frontend.
Are orders counted twice?
No. Purchases are matched by order number; an order always counts only once. If a payment provider’s webhook creates it later, it is still attributed to the shopper’s visit.
